The brewery is located in the centre of the picturesque village
of Esquelbecq, 20 kms from Dunkirk and 20 kms from Poperinge.
The old buildings were once used as a farmhouse brewery, "Brasserie
Poitevin", producing beer until 1945.
During the first half of the last century Esquelbecq had as
many as 5 breweries and 10 "estaminets" or pubs. In
1996 when Daniel Thiriez moved in to the old brewery no beer
had been produced in the village for over 50 years. Daniel restarted
brewing with a 600 litre "Velo" brewplant, the first
beers being sold in 1997 and beer tasting taking place in an
old barn next to the brewhouse.

In 2001 a new wooden building was constructed and initially
used for the storage of beer and raw materials.

In 2006, a new 2000 litre brewplant, designed by "MBA
21", was installed in the wooden building. This brewery
is partially automatic and allows a larger and safer production.
